On the morning of June 18, the first training course for teachers of Guangxi vocational colleges in 2023, hosted by the Department of Education of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and undertaken by the Guangxi-Hong Kong Modern Vocational Education Development Center, commenced successfully. The opening ceremony was attended by Huang Chunbo, vice president of Nanning College for Vocational Technology (NCVT), Yao Jingfeng, director of the Vocational Training Division of Hong Kong's Vocational Training Council (VTC), Chen Binquan, senior program director of Institute of Professional Education and Knowledge (PEAK), a member of VTC, as well as 65 teaching administrators and key teachers from Guangxi secondary vocational schools. The ceremony was presided over by Chen Guihu, director of the Office of the Guangxi-Hong Kong Modern Vocational Education Development Center.
At the ceremony, Mr. Huang Chunbo, on behalf of NCVT, expressed his heartfelt thanks to the leaders and teachers present at the event and gave a brief introduction to the training course. He said it was a key task for the Guangxi-Hong Kong Modern Vocational Education Development Center to introduce advanced vocational education resources from abroad to provide high-quality teacher training services for vocational colleges in Guangxi. This five-day teacher training brought a new opportunity and platform for trainees to renew their concepts, broaden their international horizons, and improve their professional level and talent cultivation ability. He encouraged trainees to concentrate on learning from Hong Kong's advanced vocational education concepts and methods, leverage them to catalyze professional development and curriculum reform, effectively apply what they have learned in practice, and strive to cultivate more high-quality technical and skilled labor.
Chen Binquan introduced an arrangement for the training course. He emphasized that the training would be delivered by experienced vocational education experts from Hong Kong, who would give a detailed interpretation of six topics, including the vocational education models and emerging trends, the Hong Kong vocational education system, and the evaluation of students' academic abilities within the quality assurance framework of the VTC. He hoped this training course could provide valuable knowledge and insights to the trainees.
This training marks the 12th session of the training course for teachers of Guangxi vocational colleges, organized by the Guangxi-Hong Kong Modern Vocational Education Development Center, since 2018. Looking ahead, the center aims to elevate its efforts in supporting the national Belt and Road Initiative and Guangxi's aspiration to create a hub for open, collaborative, and innovative ASEAN vocational education. It also seeks to foster closer ties between Guangxi and Hong Kong, facilitating exchanges and cooperation. Moreover, the center will continue to bring in high-quality educational resources from abroad and conduct vocational education training programs for teachers and industry professionals in Guangxi and even ASEAN countries. By doing so, it endeavors to contribute significantly to enhancing the international level of vocational education across the region as a whole.
